CAREERS
AI is now conducting job interviews
Employers are increasingly adopting AI-driven interactive video interview platforms like Ribbon, HeyMilo AI, and Apriora to streamline and scale their hiring processes, particularly for high-volume recruitment. These tools use AI “recruiters” that conduct real-time conversations, ask follow-up questions, and deliver structured feedback to hiring managers. This approach saves companies significant time and enables candidates to interview asynchronously—making the process more accessible for those with irregular schedules or in different time zones—while reducing the need for recruiters to be available around the clock.
Companies are also turning to products like Ribbon and HeyMilo because traditional written applications have become less effective, especially with AI tools like ChatGPT enabling candidates to generate similar resumes and cover letters. AI interviews provide a dynamic way to assess key skills and differentiate candidates. While the technology is still evolving and occasional glitches occur, employers value the efficiency and scalability these platforms offer. Most see AI interviewing as a way to collect standardized data to assist human hiring decisions rather than replace them, with regulatory requirements and maintaining human touchpoints remaining key factors in implementation.

ChatGPT’s future: ‘super assistant’
Since its 2022 launch, ChatGPT has rapidly become a leading AI tool, and OpenAI now aims to evolve it into a “super assistant” that acts as users’ primary interface to the internet. An internal 2024 strategy document, revealed during the Justice Department’s antitrust case against Google, outlines plans for ChatGPT to deeply understand users and assist with a wide range of tasks—from daily chores to complex challenges like coding—across devices and contexts.
OpenAI envisions 2025 as a pivotal year to build this AI’s capabilities and monetize its growing demand, while also addressing competition from companies like Meta and managing infrastructure to support its expanding user base.

Eagle Eye, Meta's military AI helmet
Meta is partnering with defense contractor Anduril Industries to develop advanced products for the U.S. military, including an AI-powered helmet with virtual and augmented reality features called “Eagle Eye.” The collaboration aims to create integrated extended reality (XR) devices that enhance soldiers’ perception and control of autonomous battlefield platforms.
Notably, Anduril’s co-founder Palmer Luckey, who also co-founded Oculus VR (sold to Meta in 2014), described the helmet as a “sci-fi-style” device inspired by popular gaming concepts like Halo and Call of Duty. This partnership follows Meta’s recent policy change allowing its AI models to be used by military contractors and marks a notable reunion between Luckey and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg after past controversies.
BIG TECH
Bing video creator powered by Sora
Microsoft Bing has launched the Bing Video Creator, a new feature within its mobile app that allows users to generate videos from text prompts using OpenAI’s Sora model. This integration is significant because, until now, access to Sora’s video generation capabilities was limited to paying customers, making Bing’s offering the first widely available free access to this advanced AI video creation technology. At launch, the feature is only available on mobile devices—not desktop—and video generation can be slow, sometimes taking hours even when using the “fast” mode designed to speed up processing.
Users logged into a Microsoft account can create up to ten free five-second vertical videos per day, with the option to create additional videos by spending Microsoft Rewards points, which are earned through Bing searches and Microsoft Store purchases. The videos are currently limited to a vertical 9:16 aspect ratio, aligning with popular social media formats like TikTok and Instagram, although Microsoft plans to support horizontal videos soon.
