AI tool to compare student test scores

Zelma, a new AI-enabled online tool developed by Brown University in partnership with Novy, offers parents, researchers, and policymakers a straightforward way to access state assessment data in the U.S.

This free tool allows users to make conversational queries about academic performance across grades 3-8 in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, with plans to add high school data in the future. Users can request information about specific schools, districts, or states, breaking down results by various demographics.

Google says Gemini Ultra outperforms GPT-4

Google is gearing up to compete with OpenAI by unveiling details about its new AI model, Gemini. Currently, developers can access Gemini Nano, a smaller version for building AI apps on Android. The more powerful Gemini Pro is set to release soon, aiming to rival OpenAI's GPT-3.5, and has reportedly outperformed GPT-3.5 in most industry benchmarks.

However, the main Gemini model, designed to compete with OpenAI's advanced GPT-4, won't be ready until next year. This model, Gemini Ultra, is expected to excel in tasks like reading comprehension and code generation. Unlike OpenAI's models, Gemini initially won't have image generation capabilities, but Google plans to add this feature later.

Google's strategy also includes integrating Gemini into various products like search, ads, and its Workspace apps, and possibly bringing advanced AI features to mobile devices, starting with the Pixel 8 Pro.
