AI engineer tops job list for new grads
According to LinkedInās latest Workforce Confidence survey, younger workers feel the least confident about their ability to land or keep a job, a reflection of broader economic anxiety and shifting employer expectations. Nearly 70% of Gen Z respondents in a separate LinkedIn survey reported plans to search for a new role this year, signaling both a strong desire for better opportunities and increased competition in the job market.
The current job market is presenting real challenges for recent college graduates, many of whom are feeling uncertain about their career prospects. Hiring has slowed across most industries, and recent grads are being hit particularly hard, facing steep competition not only from their peers in the class of 2025 but also from more experienced candidates with bachelorās degrees. Employers are raising the bar, expecting applicants to bring a mix of skills, experience, and immediate readiness to perform.

Google's Gemini 2.5 Pro update
Google has launched Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview (I/O edition), an upgraded version of its flagship AI model with significantly enhanced coding capabilities, just ahead of its annual I/O developer conference. Available through the Gemini API, Vertex AI, AI Studio, and the Gemini chatbot, the model is priced the same as its predecessor but boasts top rankings on coding benchmarks like LMArena and WebDev Arena.
It excels in code generation, editing, and web app development, and also shows strong performance in video understanding. Google says the release incorporates developer feedback by reducing function call errors and improving response accuracy, positioning the model as its best yet for developers.

Stripeās AI fraud detection model
Stripe is doubling down on AI to fight fraud, unveiling a powerful new Payments Foundation Model trained on billions of transactions processed through its platform. Unlike previous tools, this model captures subtle patterns unique to each payment, making it particularly effective against tactics like card testing fraudāwhere criminals use small purchases to validate stolen card details. Stripe says the model immediately reduced such fraud by 64%, thanks to its deep data access and training scale.
As competitors like Mastercard and Visa also invest heavily in agentic AI, Stripeās new approach signals a shift toward more autonomous and intelligent transaction handling. While the company is also expanding its stablecoin efforts and launching new features, industry experts suggest its fraud detection advancements may be the most impactful move yetāpotentially setting a new standard for AI-powered payment security.

OpenAI will switch from LLC to a Public Benefit Corporation
OpenAI has announced a significant restructuring, transitioning its for-profit arm from a limited liability company (LLC) to a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC). This change aims to balance the company's mission of ensuring artificial general intelligence (AGI) benefits all of humanity with the need to attract substantial investment for its ambitious projects.
Under the new structure, OpenAI's nonprofit parent organization will retain control over the PBC, appointing its board and holding a significant equity stake. This arrangement is designed to preserve the nonprofit's oversight while providing the for-profit entity with greater flexibility to raise capital. The shift to a PBC allows OpenAI to consider both shareholder interests and its broader mission, aligning with structures adopted by other AI firms like Anthropic and xAI.
