How to Enable Privacy Mode for ChatGPT

The fact that ChatGPT got banned in Italy and is under closer watch from other European countries may have played a role in the introduction of these new changes.

ChatGPT has added the option to turn off chat history, preventing conversations from being used to train the model or appearing in the history sidebar. Users can find this feature in the settings and change it anytime. New conversations will be retained for 30 days and reviewed only for monitoring abuse before being permanently deleted. A new subscription service, ChatGPT Business, is being developed for professionals and enterprises who need more data control. Additionally, a new Export option in settings allows users to receive a file with their conversations and relevant data via email. More details here.

Bill Gates Says Chatbots Will Teach Kids to Read

Bill Gates said in a keynote talk on Tuesday that AI chatbots, like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard, could help teach children how to read and write better in the next 18 months. He explained that chatbots have developed to a level of fluency that is impressive, and they can recognize and recreate human-like language. This feature makes it possible for chatbots to teach writing skills, which is a task that historically has been challenging for computers. Chatbots' ability to summarize and offer feedback on text has also impressed academics. However, Gates warns that the technology is not yet fully developed and needs to improve its language processing ability to become an effective tutor. Nonetheless, Gates believes that chatbots could make private tutoring affordable and accessible for many students, which is not currently possible.

HuggingFace Launches HuggingChat

HuggingFace, a startup that specializes in artificial intelligence for natural language processing, has released a new "open" chatbot called HuggingChat to compete with other chatbots like ChatGPT. HuggingChat is available to everyone and can be accessed through the HuggingFace website, in addition to their other services such as pre-trained models for NLP tasks and a platform for developers to build their own models.

Apple's AR/VR 'Reality Pro' Headset

Apple is rumored to be releasing a VR/AR mixed reality headset later this year, with a potential preview at the WWDC 2023 event. The headset is said to be designed for short trips into VR, with a focus on gaming, media consumption, and communication. It may have a price tag of up to $3,000, though rumors conflict on the final price. Analysts suggest that the headset will be the first stage of Apple's wearable AR ambitions, preparing developers for the launch of Apple Glasses. The Apple VR/AR headset is different from the rumored Apple Glasses, which are purely AR-focused and not likely to arrive soon. More details here.
