OpenAI on track to generate more than $1B revenue over 12 months—surpassing prior projections. This estimate suggests monthly revenue could be exceeding $80 million. OpenAI's valuation reached $27 billion this year, and its revenue was $28 million in the past year prior to charging for ChatGPT.

OpenAI recently shared that ChatGPT is in use by teams in more than 80% of Fortune 500 companies within the last nine months.

Google’s tool for watermarking AI-generated content

Google has launched a beta version of SynthID, a tool aimed at watermarking and identifying AI-generated images, developed in partnership with Google DeepMind and Google Research. SynthID's technology embeds an invisible watermark directly into an image's pixels, making it unnoticeable to the human eye but detectable for identification purposes.

The tool, designed to address the challenge of distinguishing lifelike AI-generated images from non-AI ones, aims to empower individuals and organizations to engage with AI-generated content responsibly. While not immune to extreme image manipulations, SynthID shows promise in maintaining watermark detectability even after modifications like adding filters, color changes, and compression. The tool's combination of watermarking and identification helps strike a balance between image quality and robustness against manipulations.

Snapchat introduces AI enhanced selfies

Snapchat has introduced a new feature called "Dreams" as part of its foray into AI-generated selfies. Found within the Memories section of Snapchat's camera roll, Dreams allows users to create generative AI selfies by uploading real-life photos. The app then presents packs of eight themed AI-generated images, like doppelgangers or back-to-school looks.

While the first Dreams pack is free, additional packs can be purchased in-app for $1. Although some of the AI-generated images might not be highly accurate in resembling the user, Snapchat aims to offer playful and quirky experiences with Dreams. Initially launched in Australia and New Zealand, the feature will roll out globally in the coming weeks, and the platform plans to expand customization options and allow user-generated Dreams in the future. Apple’s AI powered voice cloning tech - Personal Voice

Apple introduced a new accessibility feature called Personal Voice with the initial iOS 17 beta. Designed for those at risk of losing their ability to speak, Personal Voice employs artificial intelligence to replicate the user's voice, enabling them to communicate effectively. Found under Accessibility > Personal Voice, this feature requires around an hour to create a personalized voice, involving reading aloud a series of sentences in a quiet environment.

Users can then use their Personal Voice with the Live Speech feature for text-to-speech communication in apps like FaceTime. Additional details about Personal Voice and iOS 17 are anticipated to be unveiled at the Apple event on September 12th.
