Snapchat is releasing its own AI chatbot powered by ChatGPT

Snapchat is launching a chatbot that uses OpenAI's ChatGPT technology. Snap CEO Evan Spiegel believes that AI chatbots will become increasingly common in everyday life, and this move is a bet on that trend. The chatbot, called "My AI," will initially only be accessible to paying Snapchat Plus subscribers. Spiegel says that this is just the beginning of the company's plans for generative AI. Elon Musk Recruits Team to Develop OpenAI Rival

Elon Musk is one busy guy! He's an investor in OpenAI, but he's not exactly thrilled with the way they're heading. According to Musk, they're not as open as they should be. So, he's been chatting with some AI researchers about starting up a whole AI focused project. Honestly, it's pretty wild how much stuff Musk is always getting into. ChatGPT and Whisper APIs

So, an API (application program interface) is basically a tool that lets software developers use the features of other apps to build their own apps. OpenAI has released ChatGPT and Whisper models on their API, which allows developers to access language and speech-to-text capabilities.

The company has achieved a 90% cost reduction for ChatGPT since December, which they are passing on to API users. Early users of the APIs include Snapchat, Quizlet, Instacart, Shopify's Shop app, and Speak.
